Texas Governor highlights trade ties with India

Abbott highlighted that India ranks as one of the state's most significant trade partners.

Governor Greg Abbott emphasized recent legislative accomplishments that bolster Texas' robust economy and its enduring, strong trade relations with India. He made the observations at the U.S. India Chamber of Commerce (USICOC) DFW annual awards banquet in Dallas.

During a fireside chat with USICOC DFW founding chairman A.K. Mago, Abbott highlighted the substantial bilateral trade relationship between Texas and India, noting that India ranks as one of the state's most significant trade partners with a total trade volume exceeding $20 billion.

The Governor also mentioned his initial visit to India in 2018, during which he visited the headquarters of prominent technology companies like Wipro, Infosys, and Mahindra, with the aim of fostering the expansion of their operations in Texas.

“It’s an honor to have America’s most important Indian-American business association call Texas home. Our mission to connect people to opportunity and help businesses grow is shared, and Indian-American businesses are a big reason for Texas’ success,” Abbott said.

The US India Chamber of Commerce (DFW) is dedicated to promoting professional, business, and economic development in North Texas and facilitating two-way trade with India. The Chamber is composed of business and professional members who are keen on engaging with the Indian-American professional and business community in North Texas, as well as those interested in fostering trade and business connections between Texas and India.
