Texas Governor interacts with industry leaders in New Delhi

Governor Greg Abbott and his economic delegation held meetings with Indian industry executives in New Delhi during their visit to the city to enhance the distinctive economic partnership between Texas and India.
He also attended a reception with the U.S. Commercial Service in New Delhi. The delegation included First Lady Cecilia Abbott, Secretary of State Jane Nelson, executive director of the Governor’s Economic Development and Tourism Office Adriana Cruz, vice chair of the Texas Economic Development Corporation Arun Agarwal, and president & CEO of the Texas Economic Development Corporation Aaron Demerson.
“Texas and India are two people who seek to drive the future of our regions—and the world—through innovation, economic might, and expanded prosperity for the next generation,” said Governor Abbott.
He highlighted that India and the US share billions in foreign direct investment, with Indian companies investing over $1.4 billion in capital through 59 projects and creating more than 10,300 jobs in the last decade. “Together, we are building the future through robust and expanding trade to ensure a prosperous future for generations to come,” he added.
Governor Abbott also interacted with executives from the Adani Group, including founder and chairman Gautam Adani and chief technology officer Sudipta Bhattacharya.
Subsequently, he held meetings with the chairman and managing director of the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM), Rajesh Nambiar, among other tech leaders in the national capital of India.
The Texas delegation attended a reception hosted by the U.S. Commercial Service. In his remarks during the event, Abbott highlighted the interconnectedness of the Texas and Indian economies through trade, citing India as Texas’ 11th-largest trading partner, 10th-largest export partner, and 11th-largest import partner in 2022.
He revealed Texas is home to over 542,000 Indian Americans, constituting the second-largest concentration in the US.
