Texas Governor meets Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal

Texas Governor Greg Abbott engaged in a meeting with India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry of India, Piyush Goyal, in Delhi.
During their meeting, Governor Abbott and Minister Goyal delved into discussions about the future of Texas' economic collaboration with India. The talks encompassed plans to foster investment in information and communication technology and advance engineering and research initiatives at institutes of higher learning.
Abbott emphasized Texas' standing as the leading destination for Indian foreign direct investment and job creation in the nation, as per estimates from Indian industries.
The Governor and his economic delegation also participated in a roundtable discussion on the Texas-India trade partnership, hosted by the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) in New Delhi. Engaging with Nivedita Mehra, the managing director of USISPF in India, the Governor explored avenues to further fortify economic ties by expanding the strategic partnership between Texas and India.
He underscored Texas' prominence as the premier destination for company expansion and relocations, attributing it to the state's business-friendly climate and highly skilled workforce. Furthermore, he highlighted Texas' leadership role in U.S. energy production, supplying nearly one-fourth of the country's domestically produced energy.

The USISPF also highlighted Texas' stature as the prime destination for company expansion and relocation, emphasizing the state's business-friendly climate and the presence of a world-class workforce.
Texas provides nearly one-fourth of the country’s domestically produced energy and is presently the second-largest U.S. state by GDP. Apart from energy, Texas is thriving in technology, aerospace, defense, biomedical, agriculture, and manufacturing sectors. “The Lone Star state is also home to a large number of the Indian diaspora across cities such as Houston, Austin, Dallas, and San Antonio,” the forum posted on the social media platform.
