‘The Goat Life’ nominated for MPSE Golden Reel Awards
The film stands out as the only Indian entry in Sound Editing - Feature International category, and showcases the remarkable talent of the Indian sound design community on a global stage.

In a landmark moment for Indian cinema, the feature film ‘The Goat Life’ has been nominated for the Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing - Feature International at the 72nd Annual Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) Golden Reel Awards.
The film stands out as the only Indian entry in this category, showcasing the remarkable talent of the Indian sound design community on a global stage.
The Goat Life, based on Indian author Benyamin's acclaimed 2008 novel Aadujeevitham, tells the story of Najeeb Muhammad (played by Prithviraj Sukumaran), a man from Kerala who moves to Saudi Arabia in search of a better life. Instead of finding employment, he is deceived and forced to work on a goat farm in harsh desert conditions. The film’s gripping narrative explores themes of survival and resilience.
The nomination recognizes the meticulous work of the film's sound design team, led by supervising sound editors Resul Pookutty, CAS, MPSE, and Vijaykumar Mahadevia MPSE. They were joined by sound effects editor Arun Rana and foley editor Vijaykumar Mahadevia MPSE, with the soundscape enhanced by foley artists Andriy Ryzhov, Ruslan Shebistyi, Andriy Stariovsky, and Boggan Zavarzin. Together, they created a rich auditory experience that amplifies the film’s emotional depth, from the desolate desert setting to the protagonist's inner struggles.
Vijaykumar Mahadevia MPSE expressed his gratitude, saying, "Being nominated for this award is a testament to the hard work and creativity of our entire team. Recognition from MPSE, the world's foremost guild of Sound Designers, motivates us to continue pushing the boundaries of sound design in Indian cinema."

The film’s nomination places it among other esteemed international films, highlighting the competitive nature of the category. While The Goat Life is the sole Indian film nominated, it competes with a diverse range of global contenders known for their sound editing excellence.
As the Oscars approach, The Goat Life’s recognition by the MPSE Golden Reel Awards could bolster its chances in the Best Film category, showcasing the growing global influence of Indian sound designers. The nomination marks a significant step in India's journey toward establishing itself as a hub for innovation in sound design.
