The Indian Panorama to celebrate 18 years by hosting gratitude gala

The publication will honor four individuals who have had a long association with it over the years

The Indian Panorama, a New-York based diaspora news publication will celebrate its 18th year of publication with a gratitude gala on February 25 in Hicksville.

Expressing his gratitude to the community on the occasion, founding editor and publisher Prof Indrajit Singh Saluja said, “I want to say my heartfelt thanks to our readers, friends, supporters, and advertisers for the love and support they have blessed us with all these years.”

Ruchira Kamboj, India’s Ambassador to the United Nations, the new Consul General of India in New York, Amb. Binaya Srikanta Pradhan will grace the Hicksville gala.

They will be joined by newly elected Congressman, Tom Suozzi, whom the Indian Panorama endorsed on the first day of his campaign, and who has received support from the Long Island’s Indian community.

The publication will honor four individuals who have had a long association with it over the years. Dr V.K. Raju, president and founder of the Eye Foundation of America will be conferred the Life Achievement award.

Ranju Batra, the chairperson of Diwali Foundation USA which holds the Diwali Stamp - Power of One awards event at the UN and got the USPS to release the Diwali stamp will receive the Excellence in Promotion of Diplomacy Award. 

The Excellence in Entrepreneurship award will be given to Harry Singh Bolla, the Founder and CEO of Bolla Oil Corporation which runs a chain of gas stations and convenience stores in the New York area.

Founder and president of Shikshayatan Cultural Center and Sriniketan Foundation, Purnima Desai will receive the Excellence in Culture award. Her foundation has been committed to encouragig and supporting Indian culture through music and arts training and events.

US launch of Blitz India

Another highlight of the gala will be the launch of the US edition of Blitz India, India’s first chronicler of development news which has several editions in India and was launched in the UK last year. Chairman and editor-in-chief, Deepak Dwivedi, CEO Sandeep Saxena, and Prof Saluja will do the honors.

Additionally, Prof Saluja will also introduce ALotusInTheMud.com, a spirituality and wellness web magazine launched by Parveen Chopra, exactly a year ago at the Indian Consulate.

The event also coincides with Prof Saluja’s 80th birthday celebrations. Prof Saluja came to the US over 20 years ago after having a long career as a professor of english literature at leading colleges in India. Apart from TIP, he also founded a prominent monthly magazine titled ‘Punjab Beat’.
