Three Indian students have tragically lost their lives in recent road accidents in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada, raising concerns about student safety abroad.

On Dec. 13, Naga Sri Vandana Parimala, a Master’s student at the University of Memphis, died in a car crash in Memphis, Tennessee. Parimala is originally from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, Parimala was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries. In another tragic accident, 26-year-old Pritpal Singh was fatally shot in Brampton, Canada on Dec. 11. The Indian consulate described the incident as a "cold-blooded gunning down" and expressed condolences to Singh’s family, offering full support during this difficult time. Singh was shot outside his residence on Odeon Street at around 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 4. His brother, who was also injured, is recovering from non-life-threatening wounds.

On the same day, 32-year-old Chiranjeevi Panguluri lost his life in a road accident in Leicestershire, England. Panguluri, a passenger in a grey Mazda 3, was killed when the car veered off the road. Four other people, including three from Andhra Pradesh, were injured in the crash. The driver has been arrested on charges of dangerous driving.

These incidents have raised serious concerns regarding the safety of Indian students abroad, particularly concerning road safety and increasing violence. The Indian government has pledged to address these issues and is working closely with local authorities as investigations continue. Meanwhile, officials are urging the international community to take stronger measures to ensure the safety and well-being of students studying overseas.
