UNGA President commends BMVSS innovations
The President visited Jaipur Foot, which provides prosthetics free of cost to people across the country

The President of the United Nations General Assembly (PGA), Dennis Francis, commended the innovative solutions of Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) during his visit to their headquarters (HQ) in Jaipur.
The primary focus of Francis's visit was to inspect the manufacturing process of the Jaipur Foot, a high-tech and cost-effective prosthetic provided free of charge to amputees across the country.
During the visit, Francis interacted with beneficiaries from across the country, expressing gratitude for the company’s noble pursuit in restoring hope and dignity to its clients. He remarked, "I am very impressed and lifted by visiting Jaipur Foot, the pinnacle of innovation that restores hope and human dignity to its clients using the most advanced technologies and reaching people in far-flung regions of India. I am lifted by your extraordinary success for humanity. Heartfelt congratulations. You are no doubt a gift to India and to the world.”
Ruchira Kamboj, India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, also visited the facility alongside Francis. They explored BMVSS's work and interacted with beneficiaries like six-year-old Dilkhus.
Dr. Mehta, founder and the chief patron of BMVSS, said, “The BMVSS has already rehabilitated 2.2 million persons with disability and it provides its services free of cost to the disabled.” He also added that they had conducted 104 on-the-spot limb fitment camps in 42 countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Satish Mehta, executive president of BMVSS highlighted their consultative status with ECOSOC, United Nations, New York, and its role in commemorating the "50th Years of Jaipur Foot" at the UN Permanent Mission in New York in 2018.
The organisation also conducted a Jaipur Foot camp for the International Organization for Migrants (IOM) recently, where 377 artificial limbs were fitted in one month. Moreover, he believed that the push for “one-fit-for-all" policy would help incorporate innovative technologies like the Jaipur Foot.
