The Consulate General of India in Seattle, in collaboration with the Montana World Affairs Council, hosted the first-ever ‘Festival of Indian Cinema’ from March 2 to 4 at the University of Montana.
The festival was part of the India-themed Academic World Quest Montana Academic World Quest 2025, an annual multi-day conference that immerses high school students in global affairs. This year over 500 students from 33 schools attended the event.

Helena Mayor Wilmot J. Collins, Consul General of India in Seattle Prakash Gupta, and Montana World Affairs Council executive director Nikki Geiszler attended the opening ceremony of the festival.
Event lineup included screenings of acclaimed Indian films, including English Vinglish, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, and Rakshabandhan, which aimed to give students a deeper understanding of India’s cultural diversity through film.
Alongside the festival, interactive sessions on Indian classical dance and music, as well as presentations on India’s Digital Payments Platforms and the Maha Kumbh, were held to further enrich students' understanding of India’s heritage and technological advancements.
Winners of the are expected to visit India later this year, marking another step in strengthening cultural ties between the two nations.
