The University of Evansville (UE) has announced the appointment of Dr. Suresh Immanuel as the Schroeder Family Dean of the College of Business and Engineering. The appointment will take effect on June 1, 2025.
Immanuel will succeed the late Beverly Brockman, who served as dean until her passing in Fall 2023. In addition to Immanuel’s appointment, Ben Johnson, associate dean of the Schroeder Family School of Business Administration, will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Business School and lead its reaccreditation efforts.
Since joining UE in 2009, Immanuel has held key leadership positions, including program director of civil engineering, department chair of mechanical and civil engineering, associate dean of the school of engineering and computer science, and associate provost for academic partnerships.
Immanuel’s career includes research and academic roles such as research assistant at the National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) at Auburn University, faculty research associate at the School of Civil and Construction Engineering, Oregon State University, Corvallis, and assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering and Construction at Bradley University, Peoria.
Mary P. Kessler, interim executive vice president for academic affairs and provost, praised Immanuel’s leadership. “Dr. Immanuel's dedication to academic excellence, collaboration, and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment embodies the values of the College of Business and Engineering and the Center for the Advancement of Learning. His leadership will ensure continued growth and innovation within our academic programs and will prepare our students for success in a dynamic and changing global landscape,” said Kessler.
He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in civil engineering from Auburn University (2007) and a Master of Science in leadership (Higher Education) from the University of Evansville (2020). His academic background also includes a master of engineering in highway and transport management (2004) and a bachelor of engineering (BE) in civil engineering (2001) from the College of Engineering Guindy (CEG), Anna University, India.
