The University of San Diego and the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, have signed a memorandum to collaborate for academic and research purposes.
According to professor Chell A. Roberts, dean of Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering, University of San Diego, the university is in talks with the government of India to get approvals to develop a branch campus in Gujarat’s Gift City.
Under this new agreement, the institutes will offer joint master’s programmes and dual degrees at BTech and M.Tech levels. Giving more details about the courses, Roberts said, “We will be offering courses such as masters in engineering management and leadership (similar to a tech MBA), masters in cyber security engineering, masters in applied artificial intelligence and masters in applied data Science.”
The collaboration is aimed at promoting the exchange of incubation, innovation, and entrepreneurship activities. Both institutes will organize joint seminars, workshops, and conferences.
Roberts highlighted that the partnership will benefit Indian students as they will receive high-quality US education that focuses on applied abilities that translate into very desirable employment skills.
“We believe that education changes lives and makes the world a better place. Our mission is to provide this values-based education and India has very good country values, an eager population, a supportive government, and a growing population of potential students who desire to learn – one of the best places in the world,” Roberts added.
Apart from IIT-Gandhinagar, the University of San Diego has also collaborated with Auro University, Surat, to elevate global academic cooperation. This strategic partnership encompasses academic programs, research initiatives, capacity building, training, and faculty development activities.
