The United States Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, on Mar. 25 to extend warm wishes for the festival of Holi. Garcetti shared a glimpse of his delightful experience celebrating the colorful festival in India for the first time.
Expressing his joy at participating in this cultural extravaganza firsthand, Garcetti also highlighted the blending of traditions and the strong bond between the United States and India.
In his online post, Garcetti wrote, “Sending #HappyHoli wishes to all! Enjoying my inaugural Holi in India with scrumptious gujiyas made with American nuts - a delightful amalgamation of customs and a celebration of #USIndiaDosti!” He added, “While I've experienced vibrant Holi festivities in Los Angeles, nothing compares to being here in India for this colorful festival. #CelebrateWithUS.”

Accompanying his message was a video where the US envoy conveyed warm greetings to everyone celebrating Holi. "I want to wish everybody a very happy Holi. We have this amazing gujiyas, which has a little bit of an American twist with some pistachios in here, beautiful rose water. There's no better way than to celebrate Holi across the Indo-Pacific together," Garcetti said, displaying the special Gujiyas with an American touch.
The US embassy in India also joined in the Holi celebrations, extending their wishes to all Indians with the phrase "Holi Hai!". Describing the vibrant atmosphere and infectious laughter at the embassy's Holi celebration, they expressed their commitment to keeping the spirit of Holi alive throughout the year and fostering greater friendship between the two nations under the hashtag #USIndiaDosti.
Earlier in March, Ambassador Garcetti inaugurated the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) Taste of America Booth at Bharat Mandapam. The booth showcased various delectable samples, including duck and turkey sandwiches, as well as the Holi festival treat - Gujiya made with US pecans.
