The U.S. Embassy in India said on Mar.26 that it has canceled around 2,000 visa appointments after detecting violations of official scheduling policies. It found major breaches in the appointment system by bad actors or automated bots and suspended their accounts. The move is part of a broader effort to combat fraud in the visa application process.

In a notice posted on the social media platform X, the embassy stated, “Consular Team India identified bad actors who made about 2,000 visa appointments that violated our scheduling policies.”

The embassy further emphasized its firm stance against fraudulent practices and added, “Effective immediately, we are canceling these appointments and suspending the associated accounts’ scheduling privileges. We will continue our anti-fraud efforts and have zero tolerance for agents and fixers that violate our scheduling policies.”

The U.S. diplomatic mission has been actively working to enhance transparency and prevent exploitation in the visa application process, particularly targeting unauthorized agents and intermediaries engaging in fraudulent activity.
