US House Democratic Leadership endorses Congressman Shri Thanedar for re-election
Recently, Thanedar's campaign received a major boost after his primary contender, Adam Hollier was disqualified to run for the primary race

Indian American Congressman Shri Thanedar was endorsed by the Democratic leadership in the US House of Representatives for his re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Michigan’s 13th District .
Minority Leader of the U.S House of Representatives Hakeem Jeffries, Whip Katherine Clark, and Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar jointly endorsed Thanedar in a joint statement. “Shri is an active member of the House Democratic Caucus who is focused on making life better for everyday Michiganders,” they said.
“Throughout his time in Congress, Shri has been a common-sense legislator willing to work with anyone to create good-paying union jobs, lower costs, and promote economic opportunity in every zip code. We vigorously endorse Shri's re-election and look forward to his continued service on behalf of the people of Detroit and Michigan’s 13th congressional district,” they further said.
Mumbai-born Thanedar served as a state representative in the Michigan House of Representatives (2020–2022) before he was elected to the US Congress. In Congress, he has nearly a 100 percent voting record and has served over 1600 constituents in cases involving social security, IRS refunds, veteran’s benefits etc.
Recently, his campaign received a major boost after his primary contender Adam Hollier was disqualified to run for the primary race in the absence of submitting the necessary number of valid voter's signatures. Thanedar's election to the US House of Representatives from a predominantly black district in 2022, marked the first time that it did not have a black representing them in the House of Representatives.
