The U.S. Department of State announced the addition of three new anchor partners to the U.S.-India Alliance for Women’s Economic Empowerment, a key initiative to strengthen communities, promote peace, and build resilient economies through the empowerment of women.

The U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC), the Gupta-Klinsky India Institute at Johns Hopkins University (GKII-JHU), and the American India Foundation (AIF) will collaborate with the Department of State and Alliance members to drive initiatives that support women’s employment, education, and entrepreneurship in India.

Established in 2019, the Alliance has been pivotal in advancing opportunities for women in India. As new anchor partners, USIBC will focus on increasing female participation in India's corporate workforce, GKII-JHU will emphasize empowering women and girls in STEM fields, and AIF will accelerate women's entrepreneurship.

Boeing India, ReNew, and Mahindra & Mahindra have also joined the Alliance as new members. Each of these companies has a notable record of promoting women's economic advancement.

Boeing, which employs over 1,500 women in India, will contribute by establishing 150 STEM labs for girls and providing scholarships and aviation career development programs. ReNew, with 40 percent female board representation and nearly 14 percent female workforce, will extend its re-skilling program for women salt pan workers to become solar technicians.

Mahindra, committed to supporting one million women with skilling and livelihood opportunities, has already impacted over 765,000 women and will collaborate to expand this initiative.

"Each of these leading companies has championed women’s economic advancement, making foundational investments to bring more women into their industries’ talent pools," said Ambassador Eric Garcetti.  "Their commitment and contributions are vital to unlocking the potential of women as the economic powerhouse of India. We look forward to working together to create a more inclusive and equitable future for women in India."

The U.S.-India Alliance for Women’s Economic Empowerment continues to foster partnerships that promote gender equality and economic growth, reflecting a shared commitment to the empowerment of women globally.
