US-India discuss strategic cooperation at Intersessional Dialogue

Senior U.S. and Indian officials convened on Sept.16 in New Delhi for the eighth US-India 2+2 Intersessional Dialogue, a key forum aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation.
The U.S. delegation was co-chaired by Donald Lu, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, and Jedidiah P. Royal, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs. Representing India were Nagaraj Naidu, Joint Secretary for the Americas at the Ministry of External Affairs, and Vishwesh Negi, Joint Secretary for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Defense.
The dialogue focused on strengthening defense ties, expanding collaboration in space and civil aviation, enhancing clean energy cooperation, and coordinating industrial and logistical efforts. Officials also addressed pressing regional and global issues, including the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

“The United States remains committed to advancing our partnership with India,” said Assistant Secretary Lu. "Today’s discussions bring us closer to achieving our shared goals, both in the Indo-Pacific and globally."
Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Royal echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the U.S.'s commitment to deepening defense and security collaboration with India.
The meeting also set the stage for the upcoming 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue, where both nations aim to continue advancing their Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership.
