USA records second successive win over Nepal in ICC ODI series

In a superb display of team effort, the United States recorded a clinical 37-run win over Nepal in the ICC ODI series. It was the second successive win for the home team in the tri-nation series. Scotland is the third team participating in the series.
Batting first, the home team was led from the front by its skipper, Monank Patel, who notched up his third successive half-century of the series, while Satleja Mukkamalla emerged as the top scorer for the US team by scoring 75. Allrounder Harmeet Singh was the third US batter to notch up a half-century, his second of the series.
After losing their opener Shaya (6) at 23 and Aaron Jones (26) at 62, Monank Patel and Satleja not only lent support to the home team but went on to add valuable 88 runs for the third wicket before Monank Patel left after making 67 from 81 balls with the help of five boundaries and a six.
Satleja Mukkamalla (75) had a 30-run partnership with Krishnamurthy before losing his wicket. He hit four boundaries and a six in his innings lasting 87 balls. It was left to Harmeet Singh to bolster up the home team’s innings in the death overs and he went last on the last ball of the innings after a well-made 59 from 44 balls with three boundaries and three hits to the maximum. The USA ended with a formidable total of 281 for eight in the stipulated 80 overs.

For Nepal, Gulshan Kha (3 for 87), Sompal Kami (2 for 58) and Sandeep Lamichhane (2 for 49) were the most successful bowlers.
Chasing a challenging target, Nepal batters started cautiously but not without losing opener Aasif Sheikh (6) with the scoreboard reading eight for one. Amit Sah once again played the sheet anchor as he added 71 runs for the second with Kushal Bhurtel (29) before returning to the pavilion at 106. Anil Sah made 52 from 80 balls with the help of four boundaries and a six.
Since the US bowlers maintained good line and length, the Nepalese batters found it tough to accelerate the pace of scoring. As the run chase got intense, the home team bowlers, especially pacer Saurabh Netravalker (4 for 47), Shadley van Schalkwyk (2 for 52), Nosthush Kenjige (two for 33), Jasdeep Singh (one for 46), and Harmeet Singh (one for 46), teased and restricted the Nepalese batter.
After Anil Sah and Kushal Bhurtel, some resistance was put up by Kushal Malla (33 from 38 balls with a boundary and a six), Aarif Sheikh (21 from 13 balls with two hits to the maximum), Deependra Singh Airee (31 made from 38 balls with a boundary and a six) and Sompal Kami (46 made from 37 balls with four fours and three sixes) before the Nepalese innings terminated at 244 with a ball to spare.
In the first encounter, the USA had beaten Nepal by three wickets.
