Usha Vance epitomizes the American dream, says Mukesh Aghi

Aghi was all praise for the Second Lady, particularly highlighting her key role in supporting her husband during his vice presidency campaign last year.

At the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) summit held in Washington on June 2, Dr. Mukesh Aghi, President and CEO of USISPF, emphasized the growing strength of the India-U.S. alliance.

Before welcoming some of the most influential individuals of the US-India strategic partnership, Aghi went on to welcome Second Lady of the United States Usha Vance. Vance participated in the fireside chat at the summit.

“She epitomizes the American dream,” Aghi said about Usha Vance, who is born to Indian immigrant parents. “She is the hardworking child of an immigrant, who has moved between the rare field cloisters of the Cambridge, Yale and the Supreme Court to reach this pinnacle of public life and public service.”

Aghi further credited Vance for having played a key role in supporting her husband, the Vice President of America JD Vance, during his campaign last year.

“As the Second Lady of the United States of America, Ms. Usha Lance brings a uniquely American story to the global stage, one rooted in family, values, education, and service,” he added.

USISPF also presented the 2025 Global Leadership Awards to three distinguished business leaders –Arvind Krishna, Chairman, President and CEO, IBM, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman, Aditya Birla Group and Toshiaki Higashihara, Executive Chairman, Hitachi, Ltd. for their outstanding contributions in strengthening the US-India-Japan economic partnership.

In their honor, Aghi said: “I also would like to congratulate three honorees today.”
