USIBC hosts inaugural AI Task Force meeting

The U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC)held its first virtual AI Task Force meeting on April 25, 2024. The discussion centered on fostering collaboration in AI across industries.

  • Participants: Industry leaders from logistics, semiconductors, electronics, biotech, telecom, defense, IT, and finance sectors.
  • New Additions: Bala Subramanian (UPS), Akash Shah (BNY Mellon), and Inderpreet Sawhney (Infosys) join the AI Board Advisory Committee.
  • Meta joins as Co-chair: Bringing industry expertise to guide responsible AI solutions.

Bala Subramanian, Executive Vice President and Chief Digital and Technology Officer at UPS, expressed enthusiasm for the committee's role, saying, “This is an important group that creates strong partnerships between businesses and the governments of India and the United States."

Inderpreet Sawhney, Group General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Infosys, emphasized the importance of responsible AI deployment, stating, “At Infosys, we attach great significance to the responsible rollout of AI, which is also one of the key focus areas of the Advisory Committee."
