USIEF welcomes 2024-25 Fulbright-Nehru student researchers to India
Through the Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship Program, USIEF offers U.S. citizens the opportunity to study and conduct research in India.

The United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) has officially welcomed the 2024-25 cohort of U.S. Fulbright-Nehru Student Researchers to India. These scholars, who will be in the country for 9 to 12 months, will conduct research across a diverse range of disciplines, including anthropology, climate studies, history, science and technology, and public health.
"Meeting these young minds was both exciting and humbling," said USIEF deputy director Megha Sunger in a post on X. "Their work here will undoubtedly contribute to deepening the connections between our countries through these important people-to-people links."

USIEF is responsible for administering student exchange programs between India and the United States. Through the Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship Program, USIEF offers U.S. citizens the opportunity to study and conduct research in India. This program includes a variety of fellowships, such as the Fulbright-Nehru Student Research Fellowship, the Fulbright-Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Fellowship, and the Fulbright-Kalam Climate Fellowship. These programmes are designed to support specific academic and professional pursuits.
In addition to the student researchers, the Fulbright Specialist Program continues to offer significant opportunities for Indian universities and higher education institutions to benefit from the expertise of U.S. scholars and professionals. This program aims to strengthen and support the development needs of these institutions while broadening cooperation with American institutions.
Fulbright Specialists work within their areas of expertise, gaining a deeper understanding of the cultural and educational contexts of India through direct engagement with the host community. Eligible institutions for the Fulbright Specialist Program include those involved in university-level teaching or training, expanding partnerships between universities and specialized institutions, and promoting international and cross-institutional cooperation.
Host institutions eligible to request a Fulbright Specialist must be approved and listed by the Ministry of Education in India. This includes institutions accredited by bodies such as AICTE, UGC, and other apex-level bodies, as well as medical institutions accredited by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
