The US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) announced the appointment of Ravi Kumar S, chief executive officer of Cognizant, to its board of directors.
With his extensive leadership experience and expertise in IT services, Kumar’s appointment underscores his pivotal role in driving innovation and fostering collaboration between the two nations, a release by USISPF said.
Since assuming the role of CEO at Cognizant in January 2023, Kumar has been instrumental in setting the strategic direction of the company, emphasising sustainable growth and long-term shareholder value. Under his leadership, the company has prioritised a client-first culture and solidified its position as a tech giant.
Dr Mukesh Aghi, president and CEO of USISPF, hailed Kumar as a distinguished figure in the tech industry and a thought leader with unparalleled insights. He highlighted the crucial role of the IT services sector, particularly in fostering the U.S.-India technology partnership, and expressed anticipation for the continued success of this collaboration under Kumar’s guidance.
Similarly, John Chambers, chairman of USISPF, commended Kumar’s appointment, citing his extensive experience in IT services and his contributions to strengthening tech ties between the two nations.
Commenting on his addition to the USISPF board, Kumar said, “I am honoured to join the USISPF Board of Directors. At Cognizant, I have the honour of leading an American company which is India’s second-largest employer among multinationals.” He underscored the pivotal role of Cognizant’s workforce in India and their contribution to the success of the U.S.-India tech partnership.
Beyond his appointment to the USISPF Board, Kumar also serves on the boards of TransUnion, the US Chamber of Commerce, and the board of governors of the New York Academy of Sciences.
