VHPA invites nominations for Hindu Priest awards

These priests will be honored during the 17th annual conference and the 11th annual Hindu Mandir Priest Conference (HMPC) at the Hindu Society of North Carolina (HSNC) in Morrisville, NC.

The Hindu Mandir Empowerment Council (HMEC), an initiative of the World Hindu Council of America (VHPA), is soliciting award nominations for Hindu Priests in North America. These priests will be honored during the 17th annual conference and the 11th annual Hindu Mandir Priest Conference (HMPC) at the Hindu Society of North Carolina (HSNC) in Morrisville, NC.

The event will be held from Sept.27–29 under the theme "Hindu Diaspora: Deepening Their Sanatan Dharma Roots" and bring together all mandir (temple) stakeholders in the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean Islands for continued dialogue on all issues related to priests, temple management and Devotees.

Award categories include the ARCHAKA BHUSHANA honor will be conferred to Archakas (priests) who have been serving at a North American Hindu Mandir for a minimum of 25 years, the ARCHAKA SREE honor will be conferred to Archakas (priests) that served/have been serving at a North American Hindu Mandir for a minimum of 10 years but less than 25 years. This year, a new award was created to recognize priests who serve the Hindu community through dharmik services. This honor will be called HINDU DHARMA PARIPALAKA.

To be eligible for the award the priests must be employed at the temple with good reputation (or honorably retired from the temple) and have a reference from the temple management. The last date for nominating is Sept. 7, 2024.

Priests selected to be honored must attend HMPC to receive the award in person as awards will not be sent via email or through virtual ceremony.
