Michelin star chef Vikas Khanna has announced the launch of his upcoming restaurant in New York, dedicated to his late sister Radhika. Doors to the new eatery, named ‘Bungalow’, will open on March 23.
Announcing on his social media, Khanna described the project as a “cultural bridge between India and the US” made possible by the love of his supporters. In the post, he also talked about his struggles and failed ventures.

Radhika, Khanna’s sister, passed away on February 28, 2022, of an autoimmune disease called lupus and other related issues.
“My soulmate left me today March 23, 1974 - Feb 28, 2022. She fought like a champion for years with Lupus, aHUS, renal failure. But today due to multiple organ failure, my best friend passed away in my arms. Loveeeee you Radha forever & forever. RIP,” Khanna posted at the time.
Radhika was a fashion designer and owner of the women’s daily wear fashion brand Estilo Inc.
“50 DAYS from today on March 23rd, would have been my beloved sister Radhika’s 50th Birthday. We open Bungalow on the auspicious day as a tribute to her life and also to honor millions of kitchens, chefs, cookbook writers, street vendors, and home cooks across India — and most importantly to our mothers who have nurtured our souls forever,” Khanna said in a video message announcing the new venture.
The New York-based chef was behind the popular Junoon Restaurant in Manhattan and is associated with two restaurants Ellora, and Kinara in Dubai.
