EU chief Ursula von der Leyen on Apr. 22 condemned the killing of at least 26 people by gunmen in Kashmir as a "vile terror attack" but said India's "spirit is unbreakable". She is among the many global leaders who have sent support for India during this difficult time.
"The vile terror attack in Pahalgam today stole so many innocent lives," she said in a condolence message on X to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "Yet I know that India’s spirit is unbreakable. You will stand strong in this ordeal. And Europe will stand with you," the European Commission president added.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also "strongly" condemned an attack on tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir that killed dozens, his spokesperson said.
Guterres "strongly condemns the armed attack in Jammu and Kashmir on Apr. 22," said Stephane Dujarric in a statement. "The Secretary-General stresses attacks against civilians are unacceptable under any circumstances."
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed solidarity with the people of India. “Deeply saddened by the terrorist attack that occurred today in India, which caused numerous victims. Italy expresses its closeness to the families affected, the injured, the Government and all the Indian people.”

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin, as per MFA Russia’s social media post, extended condolences to the President of India and Prime Minister of India over the terrorist attack in Pahalgam.

US Vice President JD Vance shared condolences with the victims.
Vance is on a four-day tour of India with his wife Usha and children. "Usha and I extend our condolences to the victims of the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India," he posted on X. "Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they mourn this horrific attack."
At least 26 tourists, including two foreign nationals, and 10 injured at a popular tourism spot in Pahalgam Kashmir. According to Indian media reports, the heinous attack stated to be the deadliest attack on civilians in the region in recent years, occurred in the Baisaran Valley.
A group of gunmen approached the tourists from a dense pine forest and opened fire.
