Virat Kohli matches Sachin Tendulkar's ODI record

Virat Kohli made cricket history by scoring his 49th century in ODI play, tying him with India's all-time great Sachin Tendulkar. This record was achieved by Kohli on November 5 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata during India's match against South Africa in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup.
Kohli, who was also celebrating his 35th birthday on Nov.5, scored a total of 101 runs out of the team’s 326 for 5. The Indian team bagged a 243-run victory, maintaining their unbeaten record at the World Cup so far.
Kohli's achievement added to his record of over 13,000 runs in the ODI format, accomplished in 277 innings, which includes 70 half-centuries. He said, “To equal my hero's record is something special for me. He (Sachin Tendulkar) is perfection when it comes to batting. It's a very emotional moment for me. I know where I come from, I know the days when I have watched him on TV. Just to get that appreciation from him means a lot to me.”
Tendulkar congratulated the Indian team on the stellar win and extended a special wish to Kohli. He wrote, “Well played Virat. It took me 365 days to go from 49 to 50 earlier this year. I hope you go from 49 to 50 and break my record in the next few days. Congratulations!!”
