Indian academician Vishwanath D. Karad, founder president of the MIT World Peace University in Pune, India, called for the need to promote a “Value Based Universal Education System” in the world to establish a “Culture of Peace.”
He made the remarks during his address to eminent scholars, thinkers, philosophers, scientists, academicians, educationists, etc., at Chicago’s Fullerton Hall. The event commemorated 130 years since the historic speech delivered by Indian philosopher Swami Vivekananda on September 11, 1893, at the same venue.
Prof. Karad reaffirmed his commitment to prove Indian philosopher Swami Vivekananda’s prophecy, “Union of Science and Religion / Spirituality alone will bring Peace and Harmony to mankind.”
According to him, a value based universal education system will promote a “culture of peace” in the present times where the world is engulfed by chaos, confusion, horrifying violence, terrorism, bloodshed and an atmosphere of fear and suspicion.
An ardent follower of Vivekananda, Prof. Karad has for over four decades promoted and practiced his teachings, which include an appropriate component of science and spirituality in the education system for the development of peace-loving global citizens.
