Republican presidential primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy predicted it would be Nikki Haley against Donald Trump in the race to win the GOP presidential nomination after New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie dropped out of the presidential race on January 10.
With less than a week before the Iowa caucuses, the biotech entrepreneur predicted that external forces would collaborate to eliminate Trump from the race to “trot their puppet (Haley) into the White House.”
With Christie dropping out, Ramaswamy predicted it is going to be a “2-horse race” for the Republican nomination between Trump and “a puppet (Haley) they can control.” He also predicted that Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis will be asked to be Haley’s running mate by his donors.
“The system wants to narrow this down to a two-horse race between Donald Trump and a puppet who they can control. And it has become increasingly clear that puppet is not a Democrat, not even Gavin Newsom. It is Nikki Haley, it is in our own party,” he said in a video posted on X.
“Well today one more step in that plot unfolds. Chris Christie drops out. Next up I am going to make a prediction. You are actually going to see Ron DeSantis join Nikki Haley’s ticket. He is going to be her VP. The whole game is hiding in plain sight. Whatever it takes, the system will stop at nothing and I mean nothing to eliminate Donald Trump from contention,” he asserted.
Announcing the end of his campaign, Florida Gov Chris Christie said, “Campaigns are run to win. That’s why we do them. It’s clear to me tonight that there isn’t a path for me to win the nomination.”
He further added, “My goal has never been to be just a voice against the hate and division and the selfishness of what our party has become under Donald Trump. I am going to make sure that in no way do I enable Donald Trump to ever be president of the United States again. And that’s more important than my own personal ambition.”
The First in the Nation Primary elections are scheduled in the state of New Hampshire on January 23. According to an exclusive USA Today/Boston Globe/Suffolk University poll, Trump is still leading in the Granite state with 46 per cent but Nikki Haley follows close with 26 per cent of likely voters in her support. In a poll conducted in October 2023, Trump had a 30-point lead against Haley, compared to the current 20-point lead.
Haley has continued to grow steadily, and close the gap in the national polls. Trump’s name was taken off the ballots in Maine and Colorado but a confident Haley asked that he be allowed to contest. “I'm going to beat Donald Trump fair and square, he shouldn't be taken off the ballot. The Supreme Court needs to rule quickly and keep this door shut,” she posted on X on January 8.
