At the 2024 Republican National Convention, former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy delivered a powerful endorsement of Donald J. Trump, asserting that the former president is the key to uniting the country.

Addressing a packed audience in Milwaukee, Ramaswamy emphasized the importance of American ideals and the need for strong leadership to navigate the nation through its current challenges.

"American ideals and unity"

Ramaswamy began, acknowledging his journey from presidential candidate to fervent Trump supporter. "We're in the middle of a national identity crisis right now. Faith, patriotism, our world, and family disappear, only to be replaced by race, gender, sexuality, and climate," he stated, highlighting the cultural and ideological shifts he believes are fragmenting the nation.

Ramaswamy's speech was a clarion call for a return to foundational American principles. "It means we believe in the ideals of 1776. It means we believe in merit, that you get ahead in this country, not on the color of your skin, but on the content of your character and your contributions," he declared, reiterating his commitment to the rule of law and meritocracy.

Trump as a unifying leader

Strongly endorsing Trump, Ramaswamy declared, "The man who will revive these ideals in the United States of America is your next president, the 47th president of the United States, Donald J. Trump." He encouraged the audience to vote for Trump to address key issues such as border security, law and order, economic revival, and national pride.

Most notably, Ramaswamy claimed that Trump's leadership will be a catalyst for national cohesion."Donald Trump is the president who will actually unite this country. Not through empty words, but through action. Because you know what? Success is unifying. Excellence is unifying," he asserted.

Messages to key demographics

The entrepreneur turned politician addressed various demographics directly, offering tailored messages to resonate with their unique concerns:

"To black Americans: the media has tried to convince you for decades that Republicans don’t care about your communities. We want for you what we want for every American: safe neighborhoods, clean streets, good jobs, a better life for your children, and a justice system that treats everyone equally – regardless of your skin color or your political beliefs."

"To every legal immigrant: you’re like my parents. You deserve the opportunity to secure a better life for your children in America."

"To Gen Z: you’re going to be the generation that actually saves our country. You want to be a rebel? Try calling yourself a conservative. Say you want to get married, have kids, and teach them to pledge allegiance to your country."

Ramaswamy ended by calling for unity and bravery. "Fear has been infectious in this country, but courage can be contagious, too," he said, urging Americans to embrace a bold vision for the future. "That is who we are as Americans. We are the country where we can disagree like hell and still get together. "That is the America I know," he concluded, to a thunderous standing ovation from the audience.
