Vivek Ramaswamy, a former presidential candidate and ally of Donald Trump, expressed confidence that Trump’s incoming administration could unify the nation, calling for Democrats to give Trump a fair chance in office. Ramaswamy is an American entrepreneur with Tamil-speaking parents originally from Kerala.
Speaking on "This Week" with Jonathan Karl, Ramaswamy downplayed criticisms comparing Trump to authoritarian figures, emphasizing that Trump’s focus remains on improving the lives of all Americans.

As the child of legal immigrants, Ramaswamy stressed the need for a merit-based immigration system, arguing that entry should be granted only to those who benefit the country. He is seen as a possible future member of the Trump administration, though he has not specified a role, indicating only that discussions are ongoing about opportunities where he could make a significant impact.
Ramaswamy also backed Trump’s proposed immigration policies, including a mass deportation plan, predicting that stricter enforcement could encourage undocumented immigrants to leave voluntarily. He asserted that federal funds should not support sanctuary cities or aid undocumented individuals. When asked about the future of "Dreamers" — people brought to the U.S. as children — Ramaswamy avoided specifics on Trump’s approach but highlighted the importance of lawful entry.
