Vivek Ramaswamy, the Indian American presidential primary candidate from the Republican Party, has reportedly lost one of his top aides to Donald Trump.
With mere months away from the primary elections, Brian Swensen, who was the national political director for the Ramaswamy campaign, has resigned from his position recently to join the Trump camp, CNN reported quoting sources.
As part of his new job, Swensen will be working on the Trump campaign’s political operation in the early-voting states, specifically in Nevada, two Trump campaign sources told the outlet. Tricia McLaughlin, a spokesperson for the Ramaswamy campaign wished Swensen well and said his exit is “best for both campaigns” the outlet reported.
Trump has emerged as the frontrunner for the Republican nomination, among GOP voters as per the majority of the polls. Ramaswamy who has maintained a pro-Trump stance since the beginning, ranked number 3, when it comes to GOP voters, behind Ron DeSantis who emerged as the second pick for the presidential nominee.
While Ramaswamy is campaigning in full swing, making multiple appearances at games, town halls, and distributing free pies over the Thanksgiving weekend, this has failed to reflect in several national poll results which indicate that the newcomer’s popularity has fizzled out among voters.
Ramaswamy recently told reporters that he has spent an estimated $20 million on his campaign so far. As of the end of September, his campaign spent more than $22 million, and he contributed $17 million, as per the latest filings with the Federal Election Commission.
