Vice President Kamala Harris made a call to action during the opening segment of the 55th NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) Image Awards recently, urging Americans nationwide to register to vote or verify their registration status.

In a video message alongside Queen Latifah, rapper, actress and singer, Vice President Harris emphasized the paramount importance of the upcoming November election and directed viewers to visit Vote.gov for registration.

"Remind people about how important this election is coming up in November," Vice President Harris urged Queen Latifah in the video. "If you can ask people to go to Vote.gov to register to vote or to check their registration status, that would mean a lot."

This call to action aligns with Vice President Harris's longstanding commitment to safeguarding voting rights and promoting voter registration. Just last month, she convened a pivotal meeting with leaders dedicated to protecting voting rights and facilitating voter registration. During this session, Vice President Harris unveiled new initiatives by the Biden-Harris Administration aimed at ensuring Americans have unfettered access to necessary voting information, advocating for robust student voter participation, safeguarding the rights of election workers, and staunchly combating voter suppression laws that threaten the very foundation of democracy.

Throughout her tenure, Vice President Harris has been at the forefront of the fight for voting rights, working tirelessly with President Biden to safeguard and advance the voting rights of all Americans. In addition to fervently advocating for critical federal legislation, Vice President Harris has consistently convened a diverse coalition of voting rights advocates to strategize on ensuring broad access to the ballot.

VP Harris's has embarked on numerous nationwide tours, including the highly impactful "Fight for Our Freedoms" college tour, engaging thousands of students and young leaders on issues such as voting rights, civic engagement, and social justice. Last year, she led a Summer of Action across 17 states, addressing voting rights and underscoring the Administration's unwavering commitment to countering pernicious attacks on fundamental freedoms.

Vice President Harris has also held a myriad of meetings with state legislators and members of Congress across the country. Notably, she has made significant visits to Tennessee, Texas, and Michigan, where she has engaged in candid discussions about voting rights issues and worked collaboratively to develop effective strategies for combating voter suppression tactics.
