Indian-American women from New Jersey said that they were highly motivated by Kamala Harris, the first female and first Indian American Vice President of the United States.
A group of women spoke to New India Abroad on the sidelines of the White House celebration of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month earlier this month expressing their admiration and appreciation for Harris, who has shattered the glass ceiling for women of color, especially immigrants, in the United States.
“She has an Indian background, and she is empowering women so much so that we are standing here today. She represents the Indian community in the U.S., which is remarkable,” a Mrs. Bharat New Jersey 2024 participant told New India Abroad.
