Dubai, UAE-based WeFreight has appointed Jai Sankar Viswanathan as its global head of finance.
With over thirty years of experience in finance in the logistics and the supply chain sector, WeFreight believes that Viswanathan’s leadership will drive improvements in its financial processes and contribute to its mission to provide innovative and effective freight solutions, according to the company's statement.
Reacting to the appointment, Viswanathan said, “I look forward to leveraging my experience to contribute to the company’s success, driving financial strategies that support our growth and operational goals. WeFreight's global managing director Axel Herzhauser noted that Viswanathan's appointment is a testament to his impeccable track record and deep understanding of the financial challenges and opportunities within the logistics industry.

Viswanathan has served in various leadership positions throughout his career, including general manager of finance at Volta Shipping Services; head of finance, compliance, and legal at DSV; and GM Finance-MEA Region at A.P. Moller-Maersk.
He is an expert in corporate and operational finance, with hands-on experience in legal overview and restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting positions.
Viswanathan completed his bachelor's degree in mathematics and statistics from the University of Kerala and a master's in business administration, business finance, corporate finance, and economics from SP Jain School of Global Management - Dubai, Mumbai, Singapore & Sydney.
He is an associate member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants-UK, and the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) of Management Accounting at American Institute of Certified Public Accountants - AICPA (US).
