Wipro launches ai360, to invest $1 billion in AI

The initiative will bring together 30,000 data analytics and AI experts with Wipro’s technology and advisory ecosystem from four global business lines.

Bengaluru-headquartered technology services and consulting company, Wipro has announced the launch of Wipro ai360, an artificial intelligence-based (AI) innovation ecosystem to harness the full potential of generative AI. According to an official statement, the company has committed $1 billion to advancing AI capabilities over the next three years.

"Wipro ai360 will help unleash a new era of value, productivity, and commercial opportunities through the application of AI and generative AI," the company said in its statement. The initiative will bring together 30,000 data analytics and AI experts with Wipro’s technology and advisory ecosystem from four global business lines.

Noting that artificial intelligence is a fast-moving field, Wipro's chief executive officer and managing director, Thierry Delaporte, said, "Especially with the emergence of generative AI, we expect a fundamental shift up ahead, for all industries. New business models, new ways of working, and new challenges, too. This is exactly why Wipro’s ai360 ecosystem places responsible AI operations at the heart of all our AI work."

"It’s meant to empower our talent pool and be ubiquitous across all our operations and processes, as well as our solutions for clients. We are ready for the AI-driven future!" he added.

As per a release, Wipro’s innovation hub Lab45 will be a core part of its AI ecosystem. The company will train its 2,50,000 employees on AI fundamentals and responsible use of AI over the next 12 months, and will also provide them with customized and ongoing training for employees in AI-specialized roles.

Additionally, Wipro will use the billion-dollar investment to further advance its AI, data and analytics capabilities and foundation, research and develop, enhance FullStride Cloud, and build new consulting capabilities to help clients adapt to change and unlock new value through AI. The company will also launch a GenAI Seed Accelerator program, which will train select GenAI-focused startups, the release stated.
