Rahul Rekhi named Young Global Leader for 2024

Rahul Rekhi an Indian American official in the Biden administration has been named in the latest cohort of Young Global Leaders announced by the World Economic Forum for 2024. He is the only Indian American on the list.

The Class of 2024 comprises nearly 90 individuals from diverse backgrounds, all dedicated to driving positive change globally. Over the past two decades, the Forum of Young Global Leaders has played a pivotal role in nurturing a community of leaders committed to tackling the world’s most pressing challenges.

Currently serving as the Counselor for International Affairs, US Department of the Treasury, Rekhi’s expertise spans critical areas such as healthcare, technology, and economic policy. He also served as a staff economist for the Council of Economic Advisers in the Obama administration, an advisor to England’s Chief Medical Officer and a World Bank consultant.

He was a former managing director at Lazard, a financial advisory firm in New York, where he advised businesses, investors, and governments on a range of financial and strategic matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and capital markets.

He also co-lead the firm's coverage initiative around healthcare software and data analytics, demonstrating his leadership and innovation in the field. Outside of his role at Lazard, Rekhi directed the Next Bretton Woods Group at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, a platform for emerging leaders in economic and financial policy.

Rahul Rekhi’s expertise and achievements have earned him numerous accolades, including being named a Truman Scholar, World Economic Forum Global Shaper, and Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree.
