Prime Minister Narendra Modi has claimed victory in the Lok Sabha elections, but without a landslide. As he is poised to secure a third term as a prime minister, a wave of celebration is sweeping across the nation. Amid congratulatory messages from around the world, one that truly stands out is that of American singer and actress Mary Millben.
Her message, which emphasizes the importance of democracy, has resonated with many.
“Today marks a historic day for India and the world,” she said in a video message on X. “The re-election of my friend, His Excellency Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the dawn of a New India.Let me be one of the first from America to congratulate you on your re-election, Prime Minister Modi. I am so happy for you.”
“You are the chosen leader for India, chosen by God and again by the people of Bharat,” she continued. “You have proven wrong those in the West who questioned your longevity and confirmed across the world what we have all known to be true - you are the best leader for India, the US-India relationship, and for the stability of the world.”
Millben expressed her congratulations, noting that every election brings division. She addressed Prime Minister Modi, saying he now has the divine task of unifying India as "Ek Bharat" (One India). She emphasized the need to create a New India where all people, regardless of religion, political views, or socioeconomic status, have equal opportunities in education and employment, and where prosperity and freedom are accessible to everyone.
Millben highlighted the responsibility of governing the most populous country and the fifth-largest economy in the world. She hoped that Modi's moral compass would guide him to make decisions that are right and best for India and position him as a voice of peace and goodwill among nations globally.
“As you enter your historic 3rd term, I hope you will continue to be God’s ambassador as you lead. For in service to God, you will not fail the people of India, the precious 1.4 billion lives you have been chosen to serve,” the American singer added.
The Election Commission of India on June.5 announced the results for 542 out of the 543 Lok Sabha constituencies. The BJP emerged victorious in 240 seats, while the Congress secured 99 seats.
Mary Millben is an American singer, actress, and media personality. She has performed for three consecutive US presidents: George W Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump. In June 2023, Mary Millben performed the National Anthem of India at the Ronald Reagan Building during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the US.
Following the 2023 Manipur violence, Millben tweeted in support of Prime Minister Modi and criticized the Indian opposition for speaking out against him. She also expressed support for the Citizenship Amendment Bill passed by the Indian parliament, calling it a true democratic move.
