ZEE Global, a streaming platform for South Asian content, is set for the digital premiere of the Tamil blockbuster, Kingston on Apr. 13. Directed by Kalam Prakash, the film stars G.V Prakash in the lead role. Kingston is an action-pack thriller with blends of mystery, adventure, and supernatural elements against the backdrop of a hauntingly atmospheric coastal setting.
Actor G.V. Prakash said Kingston is a character that pushed him in so many ways—he’s bold, unpredictable, and caught in a storm of secrets and supernatural chaos. “This film blends action, mystery, and folklore in a way Tamil cinema rarely explores, and the love it received in theatres was truly special.”
Director Kalam Prakash said the film was a labor of love, a blend of mystery, action, and striking visuals to create an immersive experience. He shared that it was a challenge, but seeing audiences connect with it in theatres made it all worth it. “G.V. Prakash was phenomenal, his transformation, intensity, and depth made Kingston the character he is. I honestly can’t picture anyone else in this role. Now, with ZEE5 Global, I’m even more excited that more viewers get to experience this story. I hope they find it just as thrilling and unforgettable as we did while making it.”
Set in the fictional coastal village of Thoovattur near Thoothukudi in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, the story unravels as Kingston, initially working for a local kingpin, discovers a dangerous truth about the illegal trade he’s involved in.
When a tragic incident shakes his loyalty, he is thrust into a deadly journey to rescue his kidnapped girlfriend, Divya (Divya Bharathi), and uncover a long-buried secret linked to his grandfather’s past. As he navigates treacherous waters, supernatural forces emerge, revealing a sinister conspiracy and the haunting truth behind an ancient maritime legend.
